Balat-Konak Survey, Restitution and Restoration

Survey, restitution and restoration projects

Project Summary

Survey, restitution and restoration projects for the residential building in Balat were prepared by Bike Architecture. The work covers documentation of the existing state of the structure, assessment of its historical traces and the design of restoration decisions for its conservation.

In the survey phase, the existing mass of the structure, facade layout, floor alignments and window and door openings were documented in detail; existing state drawings were prepared. Facade proportions, corner solutions and the relationship of the building mass with the street were transferred to the survey drawings.

In the restitution studies, assessments regarding the past state of the structure were made on the basis of existing traces and facade layout; floor layout, facade openings and architectural proportions were addressed in the restitution projects. Proposals relating to the original facade character of the structure were developed at this stage.

In the restoration projects, architectural interventions for the conservation of the structure were defined; facade layout, opening proportions and architectural details were designed in line with restoration decisions. Throughout the process, compatibility with the urban fabric in which the structure is located was taken into account.

The project was prepared by Bike Architecture as a comprehensive project set in which the survey, restitution and restoration phases were addressed as a whole.
