Project Summary
Bike Architecture prepared survey, restitution and restoration projects in 2012–2013 for the Old Band Building (A), Bomb Disposal Unit (A) and Traffic Registration Unit (A) buildings in Beşiktaş, historic police facilities. The work covered documentation of the existing state of the structures, identification of their original architectural values and the design of intervention decisions for their conservation.
In the survey phase, the existing plan layout, floor organisation, facade character and load-bearing systems of the three buildings were measured on site and transferred to drawings; the relationship of the structures with each other and with the surroundings was documented. In the restitution studies, assessments of the possible original state of the structures were made on the basis of existing traces and archive data and expressed in the drawings. In the restoration projects, intervention decisions were developed for the conservation of the structures and compatibility with current use needs; proposals were prepared for facades, interior spaces and technical infrastructure.
The completed projects were delivered to the relevant institutions. The building complex now serves as the Beşiktaş District Police Department.
