Project Summary
Survey, restitution and restoration projects for the residential building in Beylerbeyi were prepared by Bike Architecture. The work covers documentation of the existing state of the structure and the design of architectural decisions for its conservation.
In the survey phase, the existing mass of the structure, floor organisation, facade layout and openings were examined on site; existing state drawings were produced through measurements and photographs. Timber facade cladding, window joinery, floor cornices and roof form were transferred to the survey drawings.
In the restitution studies, assessments regarding the past state of the structure were made on the basis of existing structural traces and facade layout; facade proportions, opening arrangement and mass organisation were addressed in the restitution projects. Data relating to the original architectural character of the structure were reflected in the drawings at this stage.
In the restoration projects, architectural interventions for the conservation of the structure were defined; facades, joinery, roof elements and structural components were designed in line with restoration decisions. A holistic approach was adopted taking into account the relationship of the structure with its surroundings and its position within the existing fabric.
The project was created by Bike Architecture as a comprehensive project set covering the survey, restitution and restoration phases prepared for the residential building in Beylerbeyi.
