Cihangir Pavilion Survey, Restitution and Restoration Project

Cultural Heritage – Survey, Restitution and Restoration Projects

Project Summary

Survey, restitution and restoration projects for the pavilion structure in Cihangir were prepared by Bike Architecture. The work covers the detailed documentation of the existing state of the structure and the project design of architectural decisions for its conservation.

In the survey phase, the existing mass of the structure, floor layout, facade organisation and window–door openings were examined on site; existing state drawings were produced through measurements and photographs. Opening ratios on the facades, floor cornices, balconies and architectural details of the facade were transferred to the survey drawings.

In the restitution studies, assessments regarding the past state of the structure were made on the basis of existing structural traces and facade layout; mass proportions, facade elements and opening arrangements were addressed in the restitution projects. Data relating to the architectural character of the structure were reflected in the drawings at this stage.

In the restoration projects, architectural interventions for the conservation of the structure were defined; facade surfaces, joinery, stairs and interior circulation areas were designed in line with restoration decisions. Stair elements and inter-floor relations in the interior were addressed while preserving the structure's unified architectural language.

The project was produced by Bike Architecture as a comprehensive set of projects covering the survey, restitution and restoration phases prepared for the pavilion structure in Cihangir.
