Project Summary
The restoration and implementation work for the residential building in Fatih was carried out by Bike Architecture. The project covers the implementation process aimed at the functional and qualitative reuse of existing spaces while preserving the architectural integrity of the structure.
During the implementation process, the facade layout of the structure was preserved; window and door openings were addressed with their original proportions. Facade surfaces, floor cornices and architectural details were arranged taking into account the current state. The relationship with the street was defined through the entrance door and facade openings.
In the interior, volumes were re-addressed in line with the plan organisation. Timber cladding was applied to the floors, and a simple and holistic approach was adopted for the ceiling surfaces. Stairs and circulation areas were implemented so as to clearly define the vertical circulation of the structure.
Wet spaces, floor finishes and wall surfaces were arranged for functional use; the aim in the interior spaces was for natural light to enter the space in a balanced manner. Window openings and interior doors were evaluated to support continuity between spaces.
Throughout the implementation process, material choices and detail solutions were addressed with a holistic approach while preserving the existing character of the structure. The work was carried out by Bike Architecture as a project covering the entire restoration and implementation process of the residential building in Fatih.
