Project Summary
Located along the Florya–Menekşe waterfront, the Day-Use Facility Project was designed as a public-oriented, nature-compatible and multi-functional recreation area. Without disrupting the coastal silhouette, the proposal prioritizes continuity of open space through a terraced layout that adapts to the existing topography.
Food and beverage units, seating and relaxation areas, children’s playgrounds and promenade axes were planned to enable simultaneous and comfortable use by different age groups. Terraced platforms preserve visual continuity while strengthening users’ direct relationship with the sea and green landscape.
In the project, materials with timber and natural textures are interpreted through a contemporary architectural language. Semi-open spaces, shaded seating areas and permeable facade elements establish a flexible system suitable for seasonal use. Landscape design improves public-space quality by balancing hardscape and softscape surfaces.
The Florya–Menekşe Day-Use Facility Project is a contemporary recreation-space example that aims to strengthen citizens’ relationship with the waterfront, encourage social interaction and bring a qualified public place to Istanbul’s coastal band.
