Project Summary
Survey, restitution and reconstruction projects for the excavation site in Kadıköy Rasimpaşa Neighbourhood were prepared by Bike Architecture. The project covers the documentation of the current state of the excavation findings and exposed remains, the restitution of historical layers and structural elements, and the design of reconstruction proposals aimed at the legibility and conservation of the site.
In the survey phase, wall traces, floor layouts, architectural elements and stratigraphy within the excavation area were measured on site, and existing state drawings were produced from measurement, photograph and observation data. The spatial organisation of the site, layer relationships and the exposed built fabric were documented at plan and section scales.
In the restitution studies, archaeological and historical data were evaluated to develop proposals for the original built form and spatial organisation; the aim was to read the layers of different periods and understand the architectural integrity. In the reconstruction projects, intervention decisions were designed to conserve the site, enable its display and strengthen its relationship with the urban context.
The project is a comprehensive study conducted by Bike Architecture for the documentation and perpetuation of the urban archaeology and cultural heritage value of Kadıköy Rasimpaşa.
