Küçükpazar Bathhouse Survey, Restitution and Restoration

Cultural Heritage – Survey, Restitution and Restoration Projects

Project Summary

Survey, restitution and restoration projects for the bathhouse structure in Küçükpazar were prepared by Bike Architecture. The work covers the project production process for documenting the current architectural state of the structure and its conservation.

In the survey phase, the interior space organisation, domed and vaulted covering system, arched openings, wall surfaces and floor layout of the structure were examined on site; existing state drawings were prepared in line with measurement, photograph and observation data. The central stone in the middle space, the surrounding bathing areas and wall niches were transferred to the survey sheets.

In the section studies, the vertical layout of the space, vault and dome transitions and the relationship of the covering system with the space were addressed in detail. Wall cladding, floor stones and spatial proportions were documented in section drawings.

Within the scope of the restitution projects, restitution proposals relating to the spatial integrity of the bathhouse structure were developed on the basis of the survey data; the interior layout and architectural elements were evaluated in the restitution sheets. In the restoration projects, architectural intervention decisions for the conservation of the structure were addressed; spatial continuity, material integrity and architectural character were taken as the basis.

The work was conducted by Bike Architecture as a comprehensive project process covering the preparation of survey, restitution and restoration projects for the Küçükpazar Bathhouse, produced at plan, section and interior scales.
